27.10.2021 – Imperiale Racing is gearing up for one of the most intense weekends of season 2021. The team will be on track from Wednesday, October 27th, to Sunday, October 31st for the Italian GT Endurance 2021 Championship in Monza and for the closing round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe and World Final in Misano.
At the Temple of Speed, the Mirandola-based team will field two Lamborghini Huracàn GT3 Evo: the #63 car will be driven by Andrea Amici (ITA), Alberto di Folco (ITA) and Stuart Middleton (ITA) that will be fighting for the final victory of the Italian GT Endurance Championship, while the #19 car will be driven again by Antoine Bottiroli (CH), Paul August (LT) and Jaromir Jirik (CZ) after the positive second place of AM taken in Vallelunga at the debut.
Di Folco, Amici and Middleton are currently third in the drivers’ classification at 35 points, but the mandatory discards allow for all possible results. The Imperiale Racing drivers will have to serve a 10s time handicap, which will be a crucial aspect in the race strategy. Weather conditions do not look good at the moment and the race could be completely wet, which would make it even trickier and more unpredictable.
The program of the weekend will follow the usual format that includes two free practice sessions on Friday at 10:00 and 13:40, and a further free practice session on Saturday at 8:30. Qualifying will be run in three distinct sessions starting from 12:55 on Saturday and each driver will have 15 minutes to put in his best lap. The classification will combine the best lap of each driver. The three-hour-long race will get green lights on Sunday at 13:45.
The Live Streaming and TV feeds will be available on ACI Sport TV (CH 228 SKY), www.acisport.it/CIGT and on Facebook @acisporttv and @cigranturismo. These will be shared by @imperialeracing.
Hans Fabri (NL) will get on track at the Misano World Circuit instead behind the wheel of the #88 Lamborghini Huracàn Super Trofeo Evo. The Dutch driver has contested one of his best seasons yet in LB and gets to the closing round of the season with a chance to get the title of this category.
As usual, the racing weekend of the World Final will be very intense. On Wednesday, two collective testing sessions will take place at 9:00 and 11:00, while free practice of the sixth round of the Super Trofeo Europe will be on Thursday at 10:10 and 13:20. Drivers will challenge each other in qualifying on Thursday: Q1 will be at 17:30 and Q2 at 18:00. The two closing races of the championship will be run on Friday: race one at 12:05 and race two at 16:50.
The show of the World Final will kick off on Saturday. The LB Cup will run its warm-up at 9:00, while the two qualifying sessions will start at 12:00. Race one will take place on Saturday at 16:30, while race two on Sunday at 12:05.
The races will be available live on the YouTube channel of Lamborghini Squadra Corse.
Luca Del Grosso (Imperiale Racing, Team Manager):
“This is going to be a historic weekend for Imperiale Racing, one in which we will have to put all our resolution to shine on track. We are once again fighting for the titles at the end of a strong season. The race in Monza is going to be quite tough, due to weather conditions but also classification-wise as the gaps are very small. The races of the Italian GT Endurance Championship are full of unknowns and require a great synergy between the drivers and the pit-wall. I am pretty sure that Andrea, Alberto, Stuart and us from the team will give our best to end the season on a high. Antoine, Paul and Jaromir have the objective of raising the bar higher and we will give our best to take the win in AM. My best wishes go also to our guys that will be busy in Misano at the final of the Super Trofeo Europe and World Final, that is going to be another heart-pounding round”.
