07.05.2024 – Despite the great speed shown throughout the weekend, it was an unfortunate start for Imperiale Racing in the Campionato Italiano Gran Turismo Sprint that started last weekend at the Misano circuit.

The #85 Lamborghini Huracàn GT3 EVO2 entrusted to Jack Bartholomew (UK) and Phillippe Denes (USA) started the weekend on the right foot. After Bartholomew finished sixth overall and fifth in the PRO class (1’31″988) in the first qualifying session, Denes took pole position for race two, putting his Lamborghini in first place with a time of 1’31″095. The races were marked by two penalties that slowed down Imperiale Racing’s race. Ten seconds added to the total time in race one forced the Anglo-Saxon duo to climb from the third place they had achieved on the track to fifth place overall. The pair set the fastest lap in race two with a time of 1’32″929, but a drive-through penalty forced them to finish seventh in the PRO standings.

The #54 Lamborghini, in the hands of Robin Rogalski (POL) and Giuseppe Fascicolo (IT), had qualified fifth in the PRO-AM class for race one (1’32″963) and eighth ahead of race two (1’33″570). The crew over the course of the two races attempted in every way to climb the classification, but in the end was able to claim sixth place in class at the end of the first race, finishing the second in ninth place.

Elena Pignatti (Team Owner):
“It was not the start of the championship we had hoped for, but there are nevertheless many positive aspects that we take away from Misano. The speed we showed throughout the weekend was very good, and proof of this is above all the overall pole position achieved at the end of the second qualifying session by Phillippe Denes and the fastest lap set during race two. The two penalties made us lose important positions in the PRO classification, while in PRO-AM we were unable to recover positions during the races. This experience will be useful for us during the season: drivers, mechanics and engineers gave their best throughout this weekend and this is what I want to focus on. As always, togetherness is strength, also for Imperiale Racing!”.

The next round is scheduled at Imola over the weekend of 2 June.
