04.06.2024 – Imperiale Racing was dominant throughout the Imola weekend, the second race of the Campionato Italiano Gran Turismo Sprint calendar.

The #85 Lamborghini Huracàn GT3 EVO2 driven by Jack Bartholomew (UK) and Philippe Denes (USA) took two pole positions and an overall win, while the #54 car driven by Giuseppe Fascicolo (IT) and Robin Rogalski (POL) finished in the points twice in the PRO-AM class.

The #85 crew had already shown great potential during the first free practice session, when a time of 1’42″473 had earned them second place just over a tenth off the best time. Those performances were confirmed during qualifying, when the Mirandola-based team managed to take the lead in both sessions. Denes, in the first session, stopped the clock at 1’40‘823, while the second session saw Bartholomew print an unbeatable 1’40’974. Both lap times had secured pole position.

In race one the #85 Lamborghini dominated the race, leading the pack from first to last metre. After the race, however, the crew was disqualified for being underweight by just two kilos.

Race two started with some difficulties, with the car dropping from first to fifth place after two imperfections at Tamburello and Variante Alta. However, the strategy decided by the team turned the fate of the race upside down: by calling Bartholomew into the pits before anyone else, the team allowed Denes to express himself fully by setting a series of extremely fast laps, he recovered all the disadvantage suffered by the other rivals by moving up to first place at the end of the pit stop period. Not even the rain that soaked half the circuit prevented the team from celebrating their first victory of the season in the Campionato Italiano Gran Turismo Sprint.

Fascicolo and Rogalski, in the #54 Lamborghini, started their weekend with two eighth-place times in free practice (1’45‘206 and 1’55’400), while qualifying saw Rogalski take sixth on the grid for race one (1’42″808). Fascicolo, whose session was marked by several red flags, had managed tenth place (1’43″663).

In race one, the PRO-AM crew of the Mirandola-based team finished ninth in class, while race two saw them finish eighth, thanks also to the excellent strategy deployed by the men and women of the pit wall.

Elena Pignatti (Team Owner):
‘We return home from Imola with high spirits! If the opening round at Misano had already shown that we could count on great speed, Imola confirmed this by allowing us to grab pole position in both qualifying sessions and our first win of the season at the end of race two! This success is particularly significant, because we really achieved it all together: the drivers on track were extraordinary, but also the men and women in the pit box and on the pit wall showed their best with a perfect strategy that allowed us to celebrate this resounding success! We look forward to racing again in the Campionato Italiano Gran Turismo Sprint, which will return at the end of August at Mugello’.
