04.04.2022 – A victory and a second place in LB Cup with Hans Fabri (NL) and two results close to the overall podium with the rookie Manuel Bejarano (ESP) are the great balance of Imperiale Racing’s opening round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe 2022 at the circuit of Imola.

The Mirandola-based team is back to the prestigious single-make series with two brand new Lamborghini Huracàn Super Trofeo Evo 2 and headed back home from Imola with the satisfaction of having contested two high-level races run with great grit.

Temperatures were quite lower than the average values of the season and free practice was very important to define the setup that was aimed at getting tyres on the right temperature as quickly as possible.

In Q1 Bejarano secured the seventh-fastest time in 1’41.837s, while the Spanish driver improved his best lap by three tenths in Q2 posting a 1’41.510s that earned him P5. In LB Cup, Fabri was third in the first session (1’46.789s) and second in the second session (1’45.253s).

Bejarano managed very well in his debut and recovered up to P4, right at the feet of the podium, thanks to a very solid race pace. Race two followed a similar plot and the Spanish driver improved his feeling with the #89 Lamborghini Huracàn Super Trofeo Evo 2 securing another P4.

In LB Cup, the reigning champion Hans Fabri kicked off the season as he ended the previous campaign. He claimed in fact a well-deserved win in race one. The Dutch driver ended race two in second place on Sunday morning and secured important points for the championship.

Luca Del Grosso (Team Manager):
“I am rather happy, we did a good job and the drivers on the track had a great weekend. There are a lot of new things in this championship, obviously starting from the new car, therefore I honestly recognize that we still have some work ahead and room for improvement race by race. I believe we will get some good satisfaction this year. Having the SIM Maranello simulator here on track has been an important added value; the drivers clocked up a lot of kilometres to refine their knowledge of the track and I believe that this, together with a lot of other details, made the difference today”.

Imperiale Racing will get back on track for the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe 2022 from June 3 to 5 for the second round of the series in Le Castellet (FRA).
