02.05.2019 – Following the positive debut in Monza, Imperiale Racing is all set to get on track this coming weekend in Vallelunga for the opening of the Italian GT Sprint Championship 2019.
Imperiale Racing’s colors will be defended by the Lamborghini Huracàns GT3 Evo #63 driven in PRO by Vito Postiglione (ITA) and Jeroen Mul (NL) and by the #19 car driven by Pietro Perolini (ITA) and Ben Gersekowski (AUS) in Pro-Am after the positive performance put in at Monza. The goal set ahead is to be among the protagonists also in the Sprint series, that is very exciting and always eventful with its two 50-minutes long races to be held on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
The Italian outfit confirmed this year its full commitment in the Italian Grand Touring Championship and it is getting ready to face the technical and all-around circuit of Vallelunga where last year it entered a spot participation in the series claiming two podium finishes. The circuit located near Rome features several wide corners, a fast flowing initial sector and a more driven mid part. The pit-straight is fairly short and leads into a very fast initial part up to the two Cimini corners. The circuit gets more twisty afterwards with the Semaforo, Tornantino and Esse following closely one another, as the latter is right behind the pits. The wide Roma right-hander rejoins the pit-straight and the finish line after 4.085 meters.
The weekend will kick off with two practice sessions at 11:15 and 16:05 (GMT+2) on Friday. On Saturday drivers will challenge each other in two qualifying sessions at 8:30 (Q1) and 9:05 (Q2) to define the pecking order of race one and two. The first race will get green lights on Saturday at 13:50, while race two on Sunday at 13:40.
All fans are allowed to enter the circuit free of charge upon downloading the free ticket on the website www.acisport.it/CIGT to watch live this exciting spectacle. The website of the championship will broadcast the races in live streaming, while RAI Sport (CH 58 DTT) and AutomotoTV (CH 228 SKY) should shortly confirm their coverage programmes.
Luca Del Grosso (Imperiale Racing, Team Manager):
“We are highly motivated ahead of this round, the return to the Italian GT Championship is a primary objective for Imperiale Racing and, therefore, starting the Sprint series on the right foot is very important to us. We have two strong pairings that showed their value already in Monza. We just ended two testing days in Misano where we tried out several solutions on the Lamborghini Huracàn GT3 Evo, which is going to help in Vallelunga too. This is certainly going to be an intense weekend”.
