18.06.2019 – Imperiale Racing will get back on track this coming weekend for the second round of the Italian GT Championship 2019 Sprint Series at the circuit Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola.
The Italian team will field two Lamborghini Huracàn GT3 Evo: the #63 will be driven by the PRO lineup made by Vito Postiglione (ITA) and Jeroen Mul (NL) and the #19 with Pietro Perolini (ITA) and Ben Gersekowski (AUS) sharing driving duties in Pro-Am.
Following the opening weekend in Vallelunga that ended with two podium results, the main target of Imperiale Racing will be to be again among the protagonists and to improve its performance in a series that does not need any introduction and that will certainly offer a top-class spectacle in Imola. The hot summer temperatures of the weekend will be the key to get right in the two races especially in terms of tyres wear and will be quite tough on drivers too.
The 4.909 meters of the Italian circuit are the stage of this sporting challenge. This is one of the most complete and appreciated circuits in Italy. After the start, the drivers will go through the fast sector that features also the Tamburello and Villeneuve chicanes. The Tosa corner introduces drivers to an uphill section leading up to the Piratella bend that proceeds the descent down to the Acque Minerali chicane, one of the most technical parts of the circuit. After the Variante Alta, the speed builds up before the two Rivazza corners that lead into the long start/finish straight.
The weekend will kick off on Friday with two practice sessions at local 10:10 and 14:10 (both of 50 minutes). The two qualifying sessions will be at 9:00 and 9:35, while race one will get green lights at 13:05. The weekend will reach its conclusion on Sunday with race two starting at 11:40. Free entrance tickets will be available from the website of the championship www.acisport.it/CIGT
Both races will be available live at the same web address and Facebook page @CIGranTurismo, while RAI Sport (CH 58 Freeview) and AutomotoTV (CH 228 SKY) will cover the races on TV with a schedule that will be announced closer to the weekend.
Luca Del Grosso (Imperiale Racing, Team Manager):
“The whole team is highly motivated ahead of this second round of the Italian GT Championship 2019 Sprint Series. In Vallelunga, we displayed a good potential, but the circuit of Imola is quite different. It has different needs and we will have to take it one step at a time to build our performance. This is going to be a challenging weekend on several fronts, as it will be the turning point of the season and we will not be the only ones to look for a strong result: we are ready for this exciting fight”.
