19.09.2022 – Three years down the road from the last appearance in the International GT Open, Imperiale Racing announces that the team will be back to compete in the famous championship on the occasion of the round in Monza, which is the last act of the 2022 calendar, next September 23-25.

The Italian team, thanks to the support of Topcon Position Systems that has pushed for this participation, will field one Lamborghini Huracàn GT3 Evo for Alberto di Folco (ITA) and James Roe Jr. (IRL), the two drivers will in fact drive again together after a test run at the beginning of the season in Barcelona.

Di Folco is one of Imperiale Racing’s top drivers. He is contesting the Italian GT Sprint Championship this year and recently won the round in Imola, securing a result that keeps him in the fight for the drivers’ title.

Roe Jr. made his GT debut with Imperiale at the latest round of the Italian GT Endurance Championship in Mugello and became part of the Junior program of the Italian team, which is spending a lot of effort to make its drivers grow. James built an important experience in open-wheel racing and took part in several categories, among which the Indy Lights.

This is going to be a prestigious comeback to the International GT Open for Imperiale Racing just one week after the Pro-Am victory obtained with Roe in the Italian Gran Turismo Endurance Championship at Vallelunga. This series highlighted the Mirandola-based team’s international level in 2016-2019. The last participation of the team in this championship dates back to May 2019 in Spa-Francorchamps. On the occasion, the team secured the podium in Pro-Am and got close to the overall pole position. The debut of the team in the series took place in 2016 with third place in Monza, while 2017 and 2018 were the most successful years for the team. Imperiale Racing won the drivers’ title with Venturini and the Teams’ title in 2017, while in 2018 it continued the momentum with a complete program claiming three wins and a second place which confirmed its place among the teams.

Luca Del Grosso (Team Manager)
“It is very exciting to be back in the International GT Open in a very intense season like 2022 and I want to thank Topcon Position Systems. They worked with us on this project. This year we are putting a lot of effort not only on the track but also into a lot of side activities like the growth program of our young drivers and the participation to International series. After the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS in Misano, we will face another very high-level European stage and doing so with Alberto and James makes us proud. We recently improved the data on our simulator, which is another crucial tool to prepare at best the round of the GT Open in Monza”.
