22.11.2023 – Imperiale Racing concluded the double weekend at Vallelunga with a class Pro-Am podium in race two of the Lamborghini World Finals.

Imperiale Racing has been on track for two consecutive weekends on the Lazio track: the fifth round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe on November 10-12 and the final round of the Super Trofeo Europe and the awaited World Finals on November 15-19. This kept the team on the racing field for a continuous 12 days.

In the first weekend, which made up for the cancelled Imola race due to the May flood, the Lamborghini Huracàn Super Trofeo #51 driven by Giacomo and Matteo Pollini started strong. Giacomo secured sixth place in the PRO class in Q1 (1’34”050s), while Matteo finished the second qualifying in fourteenth place in class with a time of 1’37”200s. In race one, they finished 14th in the PRO class, and in race two, despite a strong performance, they were forced to retire despite demonstrating excellent potential.

The following weekend, on November 19, opened with the last round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe. The #51 Lamborghini driven by the Pollini duo returned to the track ready to put into practice what they had learned a few days before. They started with an eleventh place in the PRO class in the first qualifying, thanks to Giacomo Pollini’s 1’34”059s, showcasing the growth achieved during the weekend, aided by the team’s relentless work. Matteo, in the second qualifying, closed with the sixteenth-best PRO performance in 1’36”511s, improving the times set the previous weekend. Race one ended with a fifteenth-place PRO finish, while in race two, the pairing crossed the finish line in fourteenth place in class.

To conclude this long journey, Imperiale Racing participated in the Lamborghini World Finals, fielding car #51 in the Pro-Am class. The progression of Giacomo and Matteo Pollini proved very positive, with a sixth place in class in Q1 marked by Giacomo in 1’33”36s, while Matteo’s 1’35”224s earned him ninth place in class in Q2. In race one, the Italian crew was forced to retire due to an unavoidable contact, but the two drivers redeemed themselves in the following race, crossing the finish line in fourth place and being promoted to second place after post-race penalties. The podium placement confirmed the significant improvement built step by step over these two race weekends. In this way, Imperiale Racing concluded the season by adding another podium to the 2023 achievements.

Satisfaction also came from the Lamborghini Huracàn Super Trofeo #85 entrusted to Glenn McGee (USA) and Anthony McIntosh (USA), who joined the team for the final round of the Super Trofeo Europe held on the weekend of November 19. The American duo immediately impressed with their speed when they secured the pole position in the AM-LC class, with a time of 1’34”174s set by McGee. In Q2, McIntosh concluded with an equally positive third place with a time of 1’35”225s. In race one, the American crew clinched a class podium with a nice third place, while in race two, the American drivers claimed the sixth place. Importantly, during the same weekend, McGee and McIntosh achieved success in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America and were crowned AM-LC champions in the World Finals as well.

Luca Del Grosso (Team Manager):
“The final podium at the World Finals repays the team for the tremendous effort we all put in: we arrived at Vallelunga on November 9th and returned home on the 20th, after twelve days of work and commitment. These were two very intense weeks, during which everyone gave their best to ensure our drivers had the best package. The young Pollini drivers, starting with good potential, progressively adapted to the car and championship tires, demonstrating determination in facing a highly competitive field.
McIntosh and McGee had already showcased their skills during the test in early September and came here as favourites for the regional and world titles. Round 6, raced in our colours, certainly strengthened the package, leading them to the title with an American team but also leaving a great memory with Imperiale.
In the end, we achieved two podiums and a pole position with both pairings, so we can leave Vallelunga with satisfaction. It is a result that concludes our sporting commitment in 2023 with a smile”.
