14.09.2021 – Two months after the great round in Mugello, Imperiale Racing will be back on track for the Italian GT Endurance 2021 Championship this coming weekend at the Piero Taruffi circuit in Vallelunga. The Mirandola-based team announced that it will be present with two Lamborghini Huracàn GT3 Evo: the #63 in PRO driven by classification leaders Andrea Amici (ITA), Alberto Di Folco (ITA), Stuard Middleton (GB) and the #19 by Antoine Bottirli (FRA), Paul August (LT) and Jaromir Jirik (CZ) in AM.
The challenge in Vallelunga will be the turning point of the Endurance campaign and the #63 car will enjoy a 2 points lead in the drivers classification but will also have 40s time handicap to serve after the podium scored in Pergusa and the victory in Mugello. This weekend is therefore going to be particularly tricky and in a way crucial for the title fight requiring a great performance and strategy from engineers too.
The program will kick off on Friday with two free practice sessions at 10:50 and 16:10, while the third session will be on Saturday at 9:00. The battle for the pole position will get underway at 13:40 with the usual format for Endurance races: each driver will have a 15 minutes session to post the fastest time and the final classification will be drawn by summing the three best times, one for each driver. The three hours-long race will get green lights on Sunday at 14:00.
This challenge will be hosted by the 15 corners and the 4.085 meters of the Vallelunga circuit. The racetrack is quite fast in its first part up to the Campagnano corner, before becoming more technical and riven in the second sector that includes the Semaforo, Tornantino, Esse and Roma corners that are very spectacular. ACI Sport TV (CH 228 SKY) will cover the three hours of the race live. The racing action will also be broadcast in streaming also on www.acisport.it/CIGT and Facebook @cigranturismo and @acisporttv. The FB @imperialeracing page will share the feed of the live streaming of the race. RAI Sport (CH 58 FreeView), MS Motor TV (CH 229 SKY), MS Sport (FreeView) will also cover the weekend with a schedule that will be shortly announced on the webpage of the championship.
Luca Del Grosso (Team Manager):
“Vallelunga is a racetrack where there is no room for error, we will need to be precise and effective. It is a very complete circuit featuring some very fast and other more driven sectors. This requires some setup compromise which will make you sacrifice some places to gain in others. We are motivated, we know we have a great package and strong drivers. In the #63 car Andrea, Alberto and Stuart have a great harmony and they showed it in Pergusa and Mugello where they have been the protagonists. I send my best of luck wishes to Antoine, Paul and Jaromir that will debut as Imperiale Racing’s crew in the #19 car”.
