11.05.2022 – A high-intensity weekend is ahead for Imperiale Racing which is gearing up to get on the track at the circuit of Pergusa, Sicily, for the opening round of the Italian GT Endurance 2022 Championship.

The Italian outfit will field the #6 Lamborghini Huracàn GT3 Evo driven by Raúl Guzmán Marchina (MEX) and Daan Pijl (NL), which form a very young and new pairing that is making its debut on a high-level GT3 car prepared at the headquarters in Mirandola. Mateo Llarena (GTM) is, unfortunately, going to miss this appointment as he is stuck in Guatemala due to the Covid infection, but will get ready to jump on board from the round in Mugello.

Imperiale Racing will be back to the Sicilian circuit located near Enna where last year it secured an important P3. The circuit measures 4.950 meters and unfolds around the homonymous lake with 18 corners mostly right-handed. Its conformation and layout will force the teams to an important setup work to get good speed and stability while cornering, which might be a crucial aspect of the weekend.

Luca Del Grosso (Team Manager):
“Pergusa is a racetrack that cannot be compared to other circuits, maybe only Monza can compare, but the setup work is going to be crucial. Certainly, the result obtained in 2021 is a good base, even though in 2022 we will be using a new Pirelli compound and last year we had little tyre wear. We will see how drivers will get to grips with the fast chicanes and high revving engines. I am sorry for the absence of Mateo, we send him our best wishes while waiting to have him back for Mugello. This is going to be an interesting challenge for Raùl and Daan that will get on the track for the first time in the Italian GT Championship resolute to score a good result. We will give our best to reach this goal”.
