14.05.2019 – An exciting one-two in race two characterized Imperiale Racing’s weekend in the opener of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe 2019 that has taken place the past weekend in Silverstone (GB).
The Italian team got on track for the single-make series in which it made its debut in 2011 fielding three Lamborghini Huracàn Super Trofeo equipped with the Evo kit for the PRO lineups made by Vito Postiglione (ITA) and Kikko Galbiati (ITA) on the #44 car, Karol Basz (PL) and Bartosz Paziewski (PL) on the #8 and Hans Fabri (NL) on the #88 in LC.
Weather has been dry throughout the weekend, which is not to be taken for granted in England, and Imperiale Racing could focus on defining the best set-up both in terms of single lap and race pace since free practice.
In Q1 Postiglione secured the pole position in 2’01.095s on the #44 car, while Paziewski – at his first qualifying with the Italian team, closed in the third row with the fifth quickest time in 2’01.733s. Fabri claimed the sixth time of LC on the #88 car. In Q2, Basz put in a very good performance and placed Imperiale Racing again on pole in 2’00.931s, while Galbiati was fourth with a good 2’01.821s. Fabri was sixth again in LC but improved his time.
At the start of race one, Postiglione kept the lead and built a good advantage on the rivals driving through a flawless stint. Paziewski had a good getaway on the #8 car recovering one position and engaging a great battle with Kroes. The Polish driver has been one of the first drivers to pit and this great strategy allowed Basz to climb up to P2 thanks to several quick lap times that placed him behind Galbiati, who took over from Postiglione on the #44 car. A few laps before the end, the safety car compacted the group again and voided all the gaps. Basz could therefore attack Galbiati but a contact forced both drivers to lose some positions and the #44 car crossed the finish line in fifth place, while the #8 car was 13th.
Fabri run a positive race and recovered two positions crossing the finish line close to the LC podium in fourth place.
Imperiale Racing started race two resolute to bounce back. The #8 car started from the pole position and Basz had a perfect stint that allowed him to keep the lead until the drivers change. Paziewski kept a very positive pace too in the second stint and secured a great win, the first of the season for the Italian team.
Galbiati put in a consistent first stint on the #44 car and kept himself away from contacts early on lapping on very good times. The great timing of the pit-stop allowed Postiglione to rejoin in a good place and to recover until the decisive overtaking move on Bartholomew with 15 minutes still to go. This allowed the Imperiale Racing’s pairing to secure a great P2 and a spectacular one-two.
In LC, Fabri run a constant race claiming the fifth place not far from the podium.
Luca Del Grosso (Imperiale Racing, Team Manager):
“The weekend ended with a great team performance: claiming a one-two in the opening round is a great result. Credit goes to all the staff working on the car. We have been extremely competitive with both lineups that managed to find a good feeling with our Lamborghini Huracàn Super Trofeo Evo. We are a bit disappointed for the episode of race one, but it has been great to see such a positive reaction by the whole team. One never loses, but rather wins or learns”.

Imperiale Racing will bet back on track for the next round of Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe 2019 at the Misano World Circuit next June 28-30th.
